HSWERX, in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Technology Transfer & Commercialization Branch (T2C), will facilitate an in-person Collaboration Event (CE) to identify solutions for real-time video analysis.
There is a critical need for adaptable, real-time video analytics software that enhances situational awareness and threat detection capabilities beyond fixed surveillance locations. This software must integrate seamlessly with existing camera systems, existing video management systems, and peripheral devices (sUAS platforms, agnostic sensors, etc.) to perform advanced object detection, identifying potential threats such as weapons, bags, smoke, fire, and suspicious behaviors. Additionally, it should support facial recognition, with the ability to enable or disable this feature in compliance with the Fourth Amendment to protect individual privacy rights.
The solution should be designed to operate in “fixed site” capacities as well as mobile and on-the-road settings, providing security personnel with reliable, immediate insights regardless of location or infrastructure. This flexibility will expand the software’s applicability, enabling use in diverse environments, from urban streets and event venues to remote or high-traffic areas, without requiring additional hardware installations.
The objective of this Collaboration Event (CE) is to gain a better understanding of the capabilities of currently available software and hardware solutions within the real-time video analytics market. Furthermore, the CE will afford Government entities the opportunity to discuss specific use cases and situations with industry professionals to determine the best practices and implementation of technology to support applicable mission sets. Additional objectives include evaluating the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of various video analytics systems in detecting, classifying, and tracking predefined objects or activities under varying environmental conditions and operational scenarios. This will ensure alignment with future technology performance requirements and mission goals.
The Collaboration Event (CE) is designed to provide insights to ensure that potential partners fully understand the problem set(s) and to increase the likelihood of matching their technologies with DHS needs. This CE is also an opportunity for attendees to network and form partnerships that may provide a more comprehensive solution. Following the CE, a subsequent Assessment Event (AE) may be initiated to analyze innovative solutions.
February 12, 2025 – Collaboration Event (CE): HSWERX will facilitate the in-person CE in the Washington, D.C. area for government partners focused on real-time video analysis needs. During this event, participants will hear from government end users through briefings about the current state of technology and their solution objectives. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback, and submit technologies, techniques, and points of contact that may be able to help solve the challenge. Participation in this event is not mandatory.
