AI for Decision-Making and Predictive Analytics Webinar

Purpose

This webinar will explore how AI can enhance DHS operations across various mission areas, as outlined in the DHS IRD Strategic Plan. The session will highlight how AI subfields, such as machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analytics, are being applied to improve automated threat detection, enhance cybersecurity, support immigration processes, and advance disaster response capabilities. Additionally, it will address the emerging risks of adversarial AI and explore pathways for leveraging AI to bolster DHS's ability to respond to threats in real time, automate decision-making, and improve operational efficiency. Presenters from academia, national labs, and non-profits will showcase their research and innovations aligned with these priorities.

This session is part of our ongoing series, with each webinar highlighting innovative capabilities aligned with a DHS priority research area.

HSWERX, in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Technology Transfer & Commercialization Branch (T2C), hosted a webinar as part of the “Spotlighting Innovation for Homeland Security: Strategic R&D” series, focusing on the AI and Autonomous Systems Strategic Priority Research Area (SPRA).

Event Outcomes

  • Out of 702 registrants, 416 attended the virtual webinar
  • This webinar resulted in ecosystem growth and further interest from participants to work with DHS
  • Path forward: HSWERX plans to host additional webinars in this series based on the SPRAs highlighted in the IRD Strategic Plan
